Ramadan Reflections (A Poem)
You’re welcome dear Ramadan,
Holy, holy month, shame Shiatan,
You came not like a thief in the night
No comparison can fit it right,
Like Ramadan, you grace the heights
I didn’t sight the moon
I sight my boom
My deen got it’s catalyst
My sins, they part with me,
Your marvel is beyond the emeritus
Getting things I can’t take credit for,
I deserve less, Allah gives me more,
Oh my, Oh my, Ramadan!
Sleepless nights, eyelids still bat Allahukabar, up and down,
Pangs of hunger, yet the intestines are joyous
The only month Shaitan can’t goad us
Shaitan in chains, his vassals in shackles,
After Ramadan, Ya’Mumeen, Mumeenah, you should fasten your buckles
Don’t give back Shaitan his big wicked chuckles,
Ramadan I love you, and the blessings you bring,
Inshallah, I’ll use all the strength in me,
I’ll execute all the things you preach,
I’ll be a better person when you leave,
Ya’Allah help me, I promise.
