The Day Money Died

During harmattan in 1947,

A cold News hit,

Money had gone to heaven!

How come? People were asking,

No way! It is not possible?

Real gist! cool cash had a life,

It lived and commanded a nation,

It made men bow,

the downtrodden was at it’s mercy,

It had no problems, was never worried,

The day money died,

Sons of men cried,

Our source of life is dead, we have to follow,

Men swam in tears,

They took anguish for wallow

Without Naira and dollars, they saw no survival,

As people mourn the death of kudi,

 and prepared to follow,

Son of ego emerged and killed their sorrow.

It’s true my father has died,

We will bury him tomorrow,

But his owo can never follow,

His name his Owonikoko, he’s not the money,

He has died but his money will not follow,

Calm your nerves,

We’ll spend his ₦, $, £ anyway we dim fit,

He’s dead but his bank balance can’t follow,

We’ll enjoy our lives with his funds,

After all, he’s dead but his money can never follow

Read>>> Dear God (A Poem, A letter to God)

Yo! my friend Mr ‘I can buy you and your generation’,

The day you die is the end of your romance with affluence,

Your treasure becomes terror,

If you lived using it in error,

It might also multiply and bear ends meet for your off-springs,

In the hereafter it can bring you blessings,

You can harvest the proceeds of your kindness to he whose end couldn’t meet.

your wealth, the way you used it,

grace, is how you get it

You are rich now, you won’t be in after life,

Because you will die,

And your wealth won’t go with you on the coffin ride!
